Highlights of the Exhibition:

Ryohei Yamashita, who has consistently explored the theme of "movement" in the contemporary art scene, will be hosting his solo exhibition "7 MOTIONS" at the MU GALLERY in Tennozu. This exhibition, born from his years of exploration, offers a profound opportunity to revisit the origin of expression through a collection of dynamic artworks.

The exhibited pieces feature iconic motifs such as athletes and samurais, capturing their powerful yet delicate movements with Yamashita's distinctive touch, based on interviews and sketches. Beyond serene portraits, these works depict the inner essence and passion of the figures brought forth by their movements.

Yamashita has consistently sought to find the pinnacle of beauty in the moments of human "movement," carving out a unique genre as an artist. Every bodily motion, from slicing through the wind to making water dance, is immortalized on canvas with bold compositions and the full use of his physicality. Moreover, he continues to evolve by seeking themes in various moments that extend from dynamic beauty, such as replacing an athlete's imagination with landscapes or selecting the sentiments of the seasons. In 2020, his works were featured as stained glass art at Gaiemmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, showcasing the new possibilities of art in public spaces. This recognition has led to widespread acknowledgment of his works, leaving a deep impression on many.

In this exhibition, marking his return to Tokyo after two years, approximately 20 pieces created with oil and acrylic paints will be exhibited and available for purchase. Additionally, a dream collaboration piece with "Kingdom," realized through a direct request from manga artist Yasuhisa Hara, will be specially showcased, offering a glimpse into new forms of creativity born from the fusion of different genres. This exhibition presents an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in Yamashita's artistic journey and delve into his worldview.
